The Herald Sun
MOVE over Jamie Oliver, the Herald Sun is bringing a fresh new Aussie cooking talent to your screens.
Today sees the launch of Summer Flavours, a new 12-part online video series hosted by Scusami head chef and co-owner Jonathan Alston. After working in Michelin Star restaurants across Britain and France, and top nosheries Australia-wide, the English-born chef now calls Melbourne home. Sharing his passion for Victoria's world-class produce and restaurant-quality food made easy, the charismatic chef's weekly cooking show aims to bring his best to your table. From today, Herald Sun readers can log on to watch an episode streaming from the internet, and then cook the recipe, also on the site, at home. Episode one is entrees and includes pan-roasted Hervey Bay scallops. Next week's episode is brunch, with delicious free-range poached eggs with Koo-wee-rup asparagus, chive butter sauce and greens. But it gets even better. In the coming weeks Alston shows how to make and cook homemade pasta, how to match wines with food, then hosts Easter and reader request specials. While the show is shot at Alston's chic Italian restaurant Scusami Ristorante at Southbank, the team also travels around Victoria teaching viewers how easy it is to find and cook top-quality produce.
